TOO MUCH SAUCE—HOW MUCH HEAT CAN ONE KITCHEN HANDLE?!

Every 3rd Sunday, WBL hosts an online discussion series, Eats + Beats, where chefs, music producers and DJs break bread and chop it up - literally. Featured guests explore the dualities of culinary arts and musical production.

This month the series is bringing the people a candid conversation between Chef Irene Castruita and Producer, Nicktha1da (@Nicktha1da). The two will have a casual lunch time talk chock-full of priceless, rib-tickling tales about their experiences as a chef and a producer. Chef Irene will walk viewers through a quick lentil stew demo while Nicktha1da follows along from his kitchen. Both will narrate the conversation and find common ground to bridge that gap that lives between food and beats.

Topics range from cultural to inspirational, but definitely leave viewers confident that there are more commonalities within the kitchen and “tha kitchen” (a term habitually used to describe the studio) than they thought. Since the early ’80s, hip-hop artists have used food the way chefs use seasoning, to illuminate flavors, disparities, ambitions and successes within American culture in a language the masses can understand.

Fans of music and food of every genre can sharpen their kitchen and production skills with this casual Hip-Hop and food series, recipes and tutorials are posted and sharable via instagram and WBL webpage. Join WBL every 3rd Sunday for Eats + Beats, a show like no other
