Krisha Dotiwalla
Arlington, Virginia Youth Poet Laureate | 2026

Krisha Dotiwalla is a junior at Briar Woods High School in Ashburn, Virginia. Her poetry is inspired through her experiences and all that is around her, pulling parts of art from her experiences as a classical Indian dancer, a writer(of course), and, most of all, as a teen.

Krisha has been recognized as the Inaugural Loudoun County Youth Poet Laureate 2025 and is an avid supporter of using poetry to connect to the community. Krisha writes for her school newspaper, The Falcon Flyer, and the Loudoun Teen Voices cohort, as well as serving as a leader for many clubs in her school to help empower and educate students as well as break the barrier between “STEM students” and the humanities.

When she is not writing, Krisha can be found blasting music at an unhealthy level, getting into passionate debates about every controversial topic, or sipping a caramel macchiato and procrastinating.

She hopes to use her poetry to bring a rise in the current generation of inspired youth and in a time like now, where it has never been more difficult to be authentically you, she can help to create a community of people, from all walks of life, who feel connected against all struggles. She wishes to see a world where we are united and where we rise to move forward together. She writes to empower teens and all writers to use their voice and speak their truth. Words are our greatest form of expression, and she hopes to inspire and create with each syllable, to spread the love of this art form with as many people as possible.
