Yahsmin Mayaan binti BoBo is an applied literary artist. Her work began in print journalism with an emphasis on art, culture and society. Most of her published pieces are magnified through the lens of hip hop culture. Yahsmin’s writings have been translated into three languages as editorial, profiles and interviews. In hiatus from journalism, she’s now telling her own story. That anthology is in the works."SheSoWriteous" is a moniker for the internationally published author, Yahsmin Mayaan Binti BoBo. She is an academic featured in Words Beats Life Global Journal of Hip Hop Culture, The Hip Hop Reader, Emel, Elan, Illume, Platform and a number of other publications. Yahsmin’s writing has been translated in both Italian and French on several continents. Widely regarded as a leading advocate for art as a spiritual practice, she also travels the country speaking at universities and conferences. Yahsmin is currently producing an audio anthology via podcast, in hopes to publish her own collection of essays, memoirs and personal narratives in print very soon. The subject matter will be an intimate reflection on relationships, spiritual growth, race relations, gender politics, arts, culture and society.
