Uganda

For the past 14 years, Words Beats & Life has taken a delegation of teaching artists and performers to Uganda to participate in The Hip-Hop Summit, an Indigenous Hip-Hop Leadership festival and retreat designed to explore the transformative power found in reconnecting emerging hip-hop communities to their indigenous spirit.

When possible, the delegation also attends the B-Global Indigenous Hip Hop Gathering -  a six day educational celebration Hip Hop leadership and creativity in Uganda. The B-Global Gathering is designed to celebrate, preserve and archive the history of Hip Hop as a contributing platform to the awakening of strength in the youth and young adult voices of Uganda.

Our delegation also spends its time teaching masterclasses and taking trips to local farms, villages, recording studios,  TV and radio stations.  Through their interaction with Ugandans outside of the festival and retreat, our artists develop a deeper connection with the people and their lives in “the Pearl of Africa”.

Our trip to Uganda is one of the many collaborations through Cultural Diplomacy.  Our goal is to raise $15,000 to cover the expense of the trip for our delegation members.  If you are ready to support this effort, click on the donate button below.
