2024 Washington, D.C. Youth Poet Laureate
Washington DC's 2024 Youth Poet Laureate is a poet and writer who sprouted out of the heart of the nation's capital, and hasn’t stopped growing since. He eats words for breakfast and almost exclusively listens to Yusef Lateef when scribbling away in his journal. His writing draws from his experiences growing up in an immigrant family and covers everything from everything from environmental justice to intergenerational trauma. Poetry is how he ties those experiences together into something worth reading. He is an editor for his school and a recipient of the Arts and Social Justice Fellowship from Strathmore and Wooly Mammoth Theatre Co. When he isn’t writing or doing advocacy work, he can be found in his little hobbit hole, reading any esoteric text he can find, attempting to cook (and failing fantastically at it), or playing Pokemon.
