What is A Dollar and a Dream?

A Dollar and a Dream is our effort to enlist our community in building our sustainability.

Our goal is to do three things: to be able to take care of consistent bills, to put money in reserves for what bad things happen, to recognize a different level of investment in our work.  For most of Hip-Hop’s history, the idea of making something out of nothing has been celebrated.  This campaign however is an opportunity for us to work with our community to build something with resources.

It’s a call to a different kind of philanthropy in Hip-Hop.

Recurring monthly donations is the most stable source of funding we have.  While grants and large one-time gifts certainly do help, our monthly donors are what sustain us and keep our doors open.  Even better, when we do receive large grants and/or one-time gifts, the support from our monthly donors allows us to expand/enhance our programming and create more opportunities.
