Virtually, 6pm EST, Fri. Jan. 8th 2021 /WBL Press/ For the last six years Words, Beats & Life has hosted an Alternative Spring Break that involved traveling to creative businesses, government agencies, and universities to meet leaders in the performing and visual arts. Over the past several months, in true quarantine fashion, WBL transitioned to a new hybrid model of hosting their events, Alternative Winter Break being the latest in their offerings. WBL is hosting a series of interviews this January dedicated to learning about the journey of media artists through out the United States—think mini series meets panel discussion. These intimate conversations are dedicated to educating and encouraging all who are interested in the inner workings of the multiple media industries. The series are streamed live via Facebook and available to watch after on most platforms.

The line up includes an inspiring spread of multimedia professionals with an impressive collection of accomplishments. The series kicked off this past Monday, January 6th with Piper Carter, a podcaster, photographer, community organizer and advocate who has achieved so much nationally and internationally. The interview was a storytelling session depicting her path to success—how it all began, her mentors, inspirations and partners along the way and her experience as a women of color in her industry. Carter has spearheaded multiple projects and organizations that promote creativity and professional development for women within Hip Hop and the arts. 

Viewers can take part in more of these discussions all month long via Facebook, Youtube and Twitch, the next show airs tomorrow night, Friday, January 8th staring Emmy Award Winning Video Producer/Director and Radio Producer/Personality/Engineer Eddie Bushead Smith.
