Support paid internships

Have you looked at an entry level job listing lately?

Many of these postings have a previous work experience requirement.  Some even expect candidates to have at least two years of experience. Which begs the question: If the job is entry level, why is there an expectation of prior experience?   Better yet, when are college students expected to obtain this necessary experience?

Internships provide students with the opportunity to gain valuable work experience while they pursue their educational goals.  However, the majority of internships on the market - a startling 60% - are unpaid.  It is estimated that up to one million Americans work as unpaid interns every year.  While these positions provide valuable and necessary work experience, the fact that they are unpaid oftentimes isolates a portion of the student population who cannot afford taking on an unpaid position.

Here at Words Beats and Life, we understand the value and importance of internships, which is why we’re committed to providing paid internships.  Our interns are central to our ability to create and execute impactful programming.  The diverse pool of applicants that we engage through our internship program contribute greatly to our growth and evolution.

We offer two kinds - summer and six month - and with your support, we can continue to provide students with the kind of opportunities they need to succeed.
