Makaia Pugh-Williams - Lead Youth Development Specialist

My name is Makaia, I am currently 21 years old, I’m from Washington, DC, and learning has always been of utmost importance to me. I look for any and every opportunity to share knowledge and experience with others. For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved performing arts. Even though I’ve never considered myself traditionally artistic or creative, I love putting a voice to someone else’s words and I am very passionate about story-telling myself. In elementary school, I was always the one turning in super long stories for our assignments and played a lead character in most of our plays. This led to me branching out into singing and dancing, as well as strengthened my writing by teaching me to visualize the worlds I create. Although I’ve never envisioned myself working in the arts, I now think about the possibility of self-publishing children’s books or even getting back into theater in my free time and it really excites me!
