The Journal is an international academic hip-hop journal reflecting hip-hop on a global scale. Our staff brings together the voices, images and thoughts of people who live and study hip-hop culture, industries and communities. The Journal features scholarly, creative and alternative perspectives of hip-hop culture. This publication takes hip-hop “From the Streets to the University,” by providing a new resource to university classrooms. Our staff understands that the codifiers of culture exercise control to determine meaning, value and relevance. The Journal staff believes that the lovers of hip-hop should be the ultimate producers, owners, and scholars of the culture, its history, and the creation of such standards.
Goals
1. To publish writers from all over the world and simultaneously support already existing global community of hip-hop scholars, artists and activists.
2. To promote the teaching and studying of hip-hop on par with others academic fields.
